(ALMOST) Random (MIDNIGHT) Movie Mention: “UNKNOWN” (2011)

UNKNOWN (2011)

UNKNOWN

…Stars MY MAIN MAN Himself…

LIAM NEESON

:D       :D       :D

…And Stars…

AIDAN QUINN

JANUARY JONES

DIANE KRUGER

&

FRANK Skeletor LANGELLA

:D       :D

It’s Also Produced By “Mr. UBER PRODUCER“…

JOEL SILVER

:D

Alright, My Peeps…

…Check-It-Out…

LIAM NEESON

Is

Dr. MARTIN HARRIS

…He Thinks?

But, Is He Really?

Well…

…We Really DON’T KNOW.

((wink wink))

You See, Shortly Into The Flick, He’s In A Car Crash.

He Hit His Head Hard.

He’s Now In The Hospital.

And, He’s Just Awakened From A Four (4) Day Coma.

He’s In Berlin.

He Doesn’t Speak German.

He Has No Official Identification.

He Might Know Some People, But We’re Not Really Sure.

He Just Remembers That He’s Dr. MARTIN HARRIS And That His Wife ((played by JANUARY JONES)) Doesn’t Know Where He Is, Nor What Has Happened.

He Then Remembers She Should Be At The Hotel They Were Originally Going To Stay In, And He’s Got To Go Find Her.

BUT…

…When He Does Get To The Hotel, And He Does Find His Supposed Wife…

…SHE DOESN’T CLAIM TO KNOW HIM AT ALL.

And Now Another Man ((played by AIDAN QUINN)) Shows-Up And Says That HE’s ActuallyDr. MARTIN HARRIS!!!

W.T.F.

?!?!?!?!?!?

And NOW The Flick Really REALLY Begins!!!

:D     :D     :D     :D

UNKNOWN

…Is Really A MUCH BETTER Flick Than A Lot Of Folks May Have Told You.

It Just Had The Bad Luck Of Coming Out After LIAM NEESON‘s Surprise Mega-Hit-Flick…

TAKEN

:(

UNKNOWN

…Is Fun.

It’s Exciting.

It’s Suspenseful.

It’s Clever.

It Was Good Enough For Me To Wanna Buy It, My Peeps.

I’d Say That’s PLENTY Good.

;)

Some People Told Me “UNKNOWN” Was Slow In Too Many Places, Which Ultimately Hurt The Overall Presentation.

To Those People, I Simply Say…

YOURE IMPATIENT!”

Dammit.

I Thought This Was A Classically Paced Thriller.

I Could EASILY See ALFRED HITCHCOCK Directing Something Like This.

HITCHCOCK Loved The Whole Idea Of The MISTAKEN IDENTITY Caper.

I Think He Would Have Relished In Directing This Flick.

Or, At Least, A Flick Like It.

I’m NOT Saying “UNKNOWN” Is The Greatest Flick Ever, My Peeps.

I AM Saying “UNKNOWN” Is A Lot Better Than You May Realize.

It’s Also Got MORE DEPTH And A THICKER PLOT Than People Gave It Credit For.

It’s Got MORE DEPTH And A THICKER PLOT Than “TAKEN” Had.

And That Is A FACT.

Period Period.

If You Haven’t Seen “UNKNOWN” Yet, Give It A Go, Kids.

If You’ve Seen It Once, And Didn’t Bother Going Another Round…

…Please…

…Do Yourself The Favor Of Checking-It-Out AGAIN.

It’ll Only Cost You 113-Minutes Of Your Life.

A Drop In The Bucket, Ya Know?!

;)

Thinking Aloud: Post-HALLOWEEN-Edition: “Ever Since My Trip To CHICAGO…

…I’ve Been Drawn-To, And Excited-By, The Film “THE GREY” Starring LIAM NEESON.”

I’ve Been Fixated Upon-It, Actually.

http://youjivinmeturkey.com/2012/10/29/not-so-random-at-all-movie-mention-joe-carnahans-the-grey-2011-starring-liam-neeson/

http://youjivinmeturkey.com/2012/10/31/once-more-into-the-fray-into-the-last-good-fight-ill-ever-know/

SEE !!!

I TOLD YA SO !!!

I’m SURE You’ve Noticed, But…

…I Really Just Can’t Help Myself.

The First Time I Saw It, I Liked It.

But, I Convinced Myself I Didn’t Like It So Much.

And Then I Watched-It A Second Time.

I Knew I Couldn’t Convince Myself To Dislike It Any Longer, So I Just Let The Greatness Of It Wash Over Me.

Then I Saw It A Third Time.

Then A Fourth.

I Just Can’t Help Myself.

To Me, It’s Like It Was After The First Time I Saw “KRULL” !!!

I Wanted To Watch It Again, And Again, AND AGAIN !!!

I Was The Same Way With A Few Other Choice-Flicks.

I Remember Doing It When “TOMBSTONE” Came Out.

I Remember Doing It When “LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL“…

(…AKA “THE PROFESSIONAL…)

…1ST Came Out.

I Remember Doing It When “ARMY OF DARKNESS” Came Out.

There Are Other Examples, But Needless To Say It Happens To Me At Times.

THE GREY

…Is…

…MY…

…Latest, Personal Craze.

To ME…

THE GREY

…Is Now…

…SPECIAL.

So Special, In-Fact, That I Can’t Stop Thinking About It.

It’s Directly Related To Having Received It AND Had My Second Viewing Of It While In The Second City Itself…

CHICAGO

!!!

The Film Makes Me Think…

…And Reflect…

…And Think Whilst I Reflect.

THE GREY

…Is Now…

…MY NEW FAVORITE REMINDER !!!

:D

A Reminder Of Being In The Company Of Those I Missed Most.

A Reminder That Some Things DO Deserve A Second Chance.

A Reminder To Think How I DO Think, Not How I SHOULD Think, Or FORCE MYSELF To Think.

And…

…Of Course…

…That I LOVE ME Some LIAM NEESON !!!

Period.

That Really Sums It All Up.

Does That Work For You ???

It Sure As Hell Works For Me !!!

;)       :)       :D

“Once More Into The Fray… Into The Last Good Fight I’ll Ever Know…”

“…Live And Die On This Day

Live And Die On This Day.

JOHN OTTWAY

THE GREY

(2011)

(Not So) Random (At All) Movie Mention: Joe Carnahan’s “THE GREY” (2011) Starring LIAM NEESON! ! !

THE GREY

(2011)

…Is Much More Than Just An Action/Drama/Horror Flick.

It’s So SO Much More.

It IS A Work Of Adrenaline-Pumping ACTON.

It IS A Work Of Wrenching, Heart-Felt DRAMA.

It IS A Work Of HORROR And TERROR.

BUT…

…It’s ALSO A Wonderful Work Of ART.

Period.

Y’all Already Know I’m A Huge Fanboy Of…

LIAM NEESON

…And This Flick Takes That Fact And Cements It Even More So Than It Was Before.

I Still Consider LIAM NEESON To Be One Of The Most Underrated Actors Of The Past 30 Years…

…And I Sincerely Feel…

THE GREY

…To Be A Totally Underrated Flick.

Period Period.

NEESON Is “OTTWAY

…A Dark, Brooding, Loner Of A Character.

He Suffers Deeply Over The Loss Of His Wife…

…And Is, Therefore, Supremely Depressed.

So Depressed Is He, That He’s Suicidal.

He Simply Can’t Do It.

He Can’t Pull The Trigger…

…Neither Figuratively, Nor Literally.

He Has All But Given-Up On Life…

…And He Can Barely Find The Will To Carry On.

SUDDENLY…

…Following A Jet-Plane Crash In The Wind And Snow Swept Alaskan Wilderness…

…He (“OTTWAY“) Is Thrust Into The Position Of Life Saver For AND Leader Of A Small Group Of Oil-Drilling Roughnecks.

BUT…

…The Crash Isn’t The Worst Of It All.

The Survivors Are Now Being Stalked/Hunted By A Pack Of Large WOLVES, Thirsty For Blood.

It Quickly Becomes A Life & Death Situation For The Few Remaining Men…

…A Situation Where None Are Likely To Survive!

*** ***

YES, My Peeps, I’m A Convert Within The Realm That Is…

THE GREY

Period Period Period.

It May Be Action Packed AND Brutal…

…But It’s Also Poetic, Thought-Provoking, AND Beautiful.

The Film’s Writer AND Director…

JOE CARNAHAN

…Has Written An Amazing Story…

…Both Simple AND Complex…

…And Has Directed It With Style AND Care.

The Landscapes Are Gorgeously, Amazingly Shot…

…Adding To The Visual Splendor Of The Flick…

…Along With Adding Deep Deep Feelings Of EXTREME ISOLATION!

Feelings That Only Make The Story Become Even BETTER!

You Know What, My Peeps…

…After Having Watched…

THE GREY

…For The Third Time, I’m Convinced The Ending Of The Film Is Much MUCH More Thought Provoking AND Honest Than I’d Originally Given It Credit For.

In Fact…

…The End Of The Flick Is The Biggest Reason WHY I’m Calling It “Art Flick”…

…As It Leaves You To Ponder The Possibilities…

…And Yet, You’re (ALMOST) Sure You Know How The Story Will Play Out.

You’re (ALMOST) Sure Of What The Final Outcome Would Likely Be.

But You Don’t Know…

…And Ya Know What, My Peeps…

…That’s Perfectly Acceptable To Me.

This Is A Flick That Totally Deserves To Be Seen…

…But Seen More Than Just Once.

One Viewing Simply Isn’t Enough To Totally Appreciate What Has Been Experienced.

I LOVE…

THE GREY

…And Can Now Count It Among My Fave-Faves From…

LIAM NEESON

:)       :D       :)

PLEASE, My Peeps…

…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…

…Give This Flick A Second Chance.

If You Enjoy It, Great.

If You’re Unsure, Or Even Disliked It, A Second Chance Is At Least Deserved.

Even ME…

…I’ve Previously Admitted To Being Unsure If I Liked It After Having Seen It For The First Time.

But The Second Time It Was Better…

…And The Third Time I Was Sold.

I’m Happy With Myself For Having Given…

THE GREY

…Another Chance To Impress Me…

…And It Did That Very Thing.

ENJOY, My Peeps…

…ENJOY, INDEED!!!

:D       :D       :D       :D

Greetings From Chicago, My Peeps!

Yes Yes Yes…

…I’m Very Aware That It’s After 5AM…

…But What’s Wrong With That?!

Besides The Fact I’m The Only Person Still Awake.

And Besides The Fact I Haven’t Slept In Over 24-Hours.

Okay, AND Besides The Fact That I’m So Wide Awake It Ain’t Even Funny.

I’m Having A Ball.

Lots Of Wonderful Conversations…

…Excellent Food…

…Spending A Little Time In The Company Of Those I Hold Most Dear.

It’s F-in GREAT!!!

I Know I Should Be Sleeping, But I’ve Such A Good Time That I’m Totally Amped-Up.

What To Do, What To Do?

???

Guess I Could Watch One Of The Xmas Gifts I Received Upon Arrival.

I Was Gifted TWO (2) Blu-ray Movies!!!

I Received A Copy Of…

THE GREY

…Starring…

LIAM NEESON

-Vs-

Those Damned Dastardly Evil Wolves!!!

:D

I Also Received The Crown Jewel Of Blu-ray Wants For Myself…

RIDLEY SCOTT‘s

PROMETHEUS

:D       :D

:D       :D       :D

And I Can Even Give Y’all A Quicky Review For Them Both Using Only One Line Of Text, Each.

LIKED IT A LOT :)

LOVED IT A BUNDLE :D

Nice, Quick, Easy, Painless, Perfect.

(*teehehe*)

So…

…Yeah…

…I’ve Been Here For Like 12-Hours…

…And I’ve Already Had Enough Of A Great Time To Totally Justify The Trip!

I Still Know I Totally Will NEVER Want To Live In The Big City Again…

…But It’s  TOTALLY Worth A Weekend Visit.

Smalltown Life Just Suits Me More So.

What’Ya’Gonna’Do, Ya Know?!

EXACTLY!

We Like What We Like…

…And We Knnow What We’re Capable Of.

Right?

RIGHT!!

:D

Anyway, My Peeps…

…Y’all Enjoy Your Weekend!

I’ll Do My Best To Enjoy Myself, Also!

I’ll Holla More So When I Have Some Time To Work-Work On Ye Ole Bloggin’ing!

Until Then… ;)

(Not Really) Random (Blu-ray) Movie Mention: “EXCALIBUR” (1981)

Well, Kids…

…Since Sleep Is Eluding My Grasp Once Again…

…I Decided To Pop-On Another Of My New Blu-ray Flicks.

This Time ’round It’s…

EXCALIBUR

(1981)

…Directed By…

JOHN BOORMAN

…And Starring…

NIGEL TERRY

&

HELEN MIRREN

&

NICOL WILLIAMSON

&

NICHOLAS CLAY

&

PATRICK STEWART

&

GABRIEL BYRNE

…And…

LIAM NEESON

!!! !!! !!!

!!! !!!

!!!

You Already Know Some Of The Story, Kids.

Young “ARTHUR” (NIGEL TERRY) Removes The Sword (EXCALIBUR) From The Stone…

…And On That Day, He Becomes KING!

The Film Chronicles The Life Of “ARTHUR”…

…From His Birth…

…To His Pseudo-Adoption By “MERLIN The WIZARD” (NICOL WILLIAMSON)

…To The Removal Of The Sword From The Stone And His Becoming “KING ARTHUR”…

…To The Knights Of The Round Table…

…To “LANCELOT” & “GUENEVERE” And Their Forbidden Love Affair…

…To The Search For The Holy Grail…

…Etc Etc Etc.

The Film Itself Is Almost Breathtaking, It’s So Damned Realistic.

It’s Loaded With Lush Visuals…

…Showing-Off Its Attempt At Being THE Quintessential “KING ARTHUR” Epic.

There Have Been Many Flicks Made About The Story Of “KING ARTHUR”…

…But None Have Bothered To Capture So Well The ENTIRE STORY…

…From Beginning To End…

…In Just One Epic Flick.

EXCALIBUR

…Does Its Best To Do Exactly That.

:D

This 30TH Anniversary Edition On The Blu-ray Is Lusciously Gorgeous.

I Can Honestly Say…

EXCALIBUR

…Is One Of THE BEST Blu-ray Transfers I’ve Yet Seen.

Trust Me, My Peeps, That’s A TRUE Compliment.

I Don’t Know How Many Times I’ve Seen…

EXCALIBUR

…Though I’d Wager It’s More Than A Dozen.

But I’ve NEVER Seen It Quite Like This.

It Is Beautiful In Its Grittiness.

The Battle Scenes Are Amazing.

There Was No Expense Spared In Terms Of The Costumes And Set-Pieces.

Wonderful.

Simply Wonderful.

:D

If You’re Like Me…

…And Love A Classic Story…

…Told With True Passion By Its Filmmakers…

…From The Director…

…To The Actors…

…To The Art-Department…

…To The Special-Effects Team…

…Then I Can EASILY Recommend You Check-Out…

EXCALIBUR

!!! !!!

Fo SHO, My Peeps!

Fo SHO, Indeed!

;)

:D

I Sure Hope Some Of Y’all Got Some Sleep.

Lord Knows I Didn’t, But What’Ya’Gonna’Do, Ya Know?!

Why Waste Time Trying To Sleep When You Know It’s Not Going To Happen?!

EXACTLY!

I Was Thinking The Same Thing, Kiddies.

When In Doubt, BLOG.

When You Can’t Sleep, And Trying Isn’t Helping Matters, BLOG.

Sooo…

…That’s What I’m Doin’!!!

What’s YOUR Excuse For Being On The Damned Computer This Late/Early?!?

You Know Mine.

I Wanna Know Yours.

‘Tis Only Fair, My Peeps.

‘Tis Only Fair, Indeed.

;)

Catch Ya Later, Kids.

:)   :D   :)

My Reaction?: “BATTLESHIP” (2012): Not As Bad As You’ve Been Told. Trust Me.

Alright, My Peeps.

What Can I Say To Make This All Totally Understood?

Likely…

…Words Should Easily Do The Trick.

So That’s What I’m Hoping For Here.

Ready?!

GREAT!!!

*** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Tonight…

…I Watched The Major Motion Picture…

BATTLESHIP

…And…

…I Swear…

…I’m Giving You The Straight-Up Of It…

…It Was…

FUN.

.PERIOD.

That’s It.

It Really Really REALLY Was FUN.

Now…

…I Know What You’re Thinking…

…And NO…

…You’re Absolutely INCORRECT.

I’m Not Thinking That.

I’m Thinking…

…Honestly…

…People Have Forgotten The MOST IMPORTANT THING In Regard To Watching A Flick.

You Go Into EACH And EVERY ONE Like It’s The FIRST FLICK YOU’VE EVER SEEN.

Some People Can’t Do This.

"Oh, They Stole This From That Movie."
"Ah, I Swear I've Seen This Before, But Better."
"Yaddi Yaddi Yadda, Plugh!"

Uh Huh.

That’s What Those People Say.

I Say…

"Oh, I Liked That."
"Oh, This Is Cheesy."
"Ah, How Cool Was That."
"Ya Know, I Never Would Have Thought To Use That In That Way."

Can You See The Diff?

Can You??

I Don’t Compare And Contrast.

I Hate That Shit.

I Look At This Thing, And I Say…

"I Wonder What This Will Be Like?!"

I Don’t Say…

"I Hear It Sucks."

…Or…

"This Will Be The Greatest Thing Ever!"

…Or…

"This Is Going To Blow, I Just Know It."

I Say…

"Hmm. I Wonder What Kind Of Imagination These Peeps Have? I'm CURIOUS!"

Notice That?

At All?

I’m Not Here To Say…

BATTLESHIP

…Was The Worst Thing EVER!

Nor Am I Here To Say…

BATTLESHIP

…Was The Best Thing EVER!

Nope.

I’m Here To Say…

“I Watched It…

…I Had FUN

…I Totally Appreciate The Imagination That Went Into It.”

Was There Borrowing From Other Flicks?

Sure.

Was Some Of It Crap?

Yeah, Some.

Did I Care?

Nope.

WHY?

Because…

I. HAD. FUN.

I DIDN’T Care That Some Parts Were ULTRA Cheesy.

I DID Enjoy That Most Of It Was CHEESE-TASTIC!!!!

BATTLESHIP

…Is A “B-MOVIE“…

…Something I Hope Y’all Have Heard Of.

And Guess What?

So Far As “B-MOVIE’s” Go…

…It Was FUN!!!

FUN FUN FUN!!!

So For Those Of You Who Saw It For WHAT IT IS…

…You’re VERY LIKELY To Agree With Me.

Remember…

Watch EVERY FLICK As If It’s THE FIRST FLICK.

You’ve Never Seen Another.

This Is That FIRST TIME You’ve Seen Anything Like It.

NOW…

What Do You Think Of It?!?

Did It Hold Your Interest?

Did The Special-Effects Wow Your Ass Off?

Did You Have FUN?

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Well…

…I Did.

And I’m The One Writing This.

So I Win.

:P

.Period.

Oh…

…And, Uh…

…By The Way…

…I Loved Seeing My Man…

LIAM NEESON

…Ham-It-Up-To-PERFECTION As THE ADMIRAL!

WHY?

Because He’s…

LIAM NEESON

…Dammit.

That Should Be Enough Of A Reason Right There.

The Man WAS In…

KRULL

…Ya Know?!

In MY WORLD…

…The Man Does NO WRONG.

.PERIOD PERIOD.

:D

Love Ya, My Peeps.

I Swear.

Like…

…For Realz…

…Ya Know?!

GREAT!!!

So…

…Because I Love Ya…

(Not So) Random Movie Mention: DARKMAN (1990)

I’m Of The School That Feels SAM RAIMI’s Film Version Of “DARKMAN” Totally Got The Shaft When It Was Released In 1990. I Saw It Shortly After Its Initial Release, And Have Love LOVE LOVED IT Since!

The BEST Part Of “DARKMAN”??? Yep. LIAM NEESON As OUR HERO!!! I First Became A LIAM NEESON Fan Alllllll The Way Back In 1983, When He Had A Supporting Role In My FAVE-FAVE-FILM EVER-EVER-EVER, “KRULL”!!! Now That His Career Is Off Life-Support And Breathing On Its Own Again, Making Mention Of This Little Number Seemed VERY RELEVANT. Wouldn’t YOU Agree??? SURE YOU WOULD!!! ;)
